# Welcome to Vanetchain Documentation

## Overview

Vehicular Ad hoc networking(VANET) is referred as the network that provides connectivity between  smart vehicles that creates an environment for data transportation. The vehicle in the network have wireless communication on board units to share information with each other to manage intelligent transportation, smart traffic applications, security and communication.With the help of the sensors, a vehicle can share a road information with the others on the network. The applications of VANET are smart traffic management, accident information sharing, road safety, smart parking applications etc...Mostly, the hazardous traffic accident and event information that can be a threat for human life must be transferred in the network correctly. Recently, it is covered that traditional VANET have several problems about security of the network. In the Vanetchain project, a private blockchain is suggested as a secure platform for vehicle data sharing.
